Ruby's first vet visit

Ruby went to the vet today and it went well. He checked her heart and skin and watched her move on the table as well as quickly examining the poop sample she provided while we were there, how helpful

She was given clean bill of health and had her nails were clipped. I asked about treatment for mites and none could be found but I was advised to call back tomorrow as the vet wanted to check the dosage to ensure it was safe for small animals.

Silent Spinner

The silent spinner is a good wheel bit it does have drawbacks and would need to be modified slightly to ensure it is safe for your cuddly spikey pet.

First of all, it comes with a stand and if the stand is used with it and it is standing alone it can fall over while the hedghog. Also it can sometimes come apart.

When attached to the side of the cage, the spinner is not entirely silent but this can be solved by te addition if a washer. Also the wheel has been known to come off its ...

Concerned

I am quite concerned over the growing novelty status of the hedgie over here. Too many people who will not properly care for hedgies or abandon them will become part of this fad popularity. I am worried because of the very specific temperature, food, and exercise needs of these little ones. Is this a problem in Ireland too?

Ok this is the cage which i got ready for my cuddly spikey pet but chances are she won't see this cage as the one I originally wanted has finally come in.

I picked the FOP cavia 120 as it was the biggest cage I could find which allowed for proper aeration and the hedgie to be able to smell her environment.

It is a good cage but I prefer the space offered by my new cage

Photos to follow of cavia 120

Here are the photos

This is an overvoew of the cage.

I have now changed a few ...
