| | I am quite concerned over the growing novelty status of the hedgie over here. Too many people who will not properly care for hedgies or abandon them will become part of this fad popularity. I am worried because of the very specific temperature, food, and exercise needs of these little ones. Is this a problem in Ireland too? |

| Well I have noticed that they have appeared on the news a bit over the here in the last few weeks as well in a couple of the papers all promoting the novelty of them. They have also appeared in a couple of pet shops but most of the breedrs and there are only about a dozen or so, give out the proper advice before rehoming them and are on hand to offer advice. It isnt a problem yet but could possibly become one. To be carefully watched I think. It is a worry that people will buy them not knowing the care that they require regarding a proper constant heat 24/7 of 22-26 degrees celsius and that hedgies will become the latest fad for backyard breeders in it for the money. There are people talking about the possibility of an exotic animal licence but it will remain to be seen if this happens |
